Heart Rate Variability
Heart Rate Variability assessment and training is available at all practices.

Heart rate variability (HRV) refers to the beat-to-beat alterations in heart rate. Under resting conditions, it is normal for there to be fluctuations in heart rhythm corresponding to your breathing cycle. A healthy heart will speed up a little with each breath in and slow down a little as you breathe out.

This healthy adaptive response is controlled by important autonomic nerves which can be influenced by such factors as stress, exercise, breathing patterns and the balance of your nervous system.

Research has shown that high levels of heart rate variability correspond with enhanced resilience to stress, improved cardio-respiratory function and better mental performance.

The technology we use to measure heart rate variability also enables you to learn techniques to improve this important indicator of wellbeing.
